Story Behind the Song

This song originally began as a poem written by a young girl. As she was writing these words, her mother read them over her shoulder and initiated a conversation. The daughter admitted to her mother that she was being bullied at school. The girl simply wanted to be the truest version of herself but could not escape the negativity and cruelty from her peers. Inspired by her daughter, the mother took a picture of her daughter’s poem and decided to transform it into a song for her. The daughter’s parents also created an accompanying video, which featured all of her friends, while her poem, now a song, plays in the background. On Christmas morning the daughter received this unique and heartfelt gift; the daughter was thrilled that she was now a songwriter!
