Who Are Lyricists?
This may be the shortest blog I’ve ever written.
The question is “who are lyricists?” The answer is literally… everyone. Anyone and everyone. We can all be lyricists because we all have that magic in us.
Generally, though, a lyricist is someone who wants to convey a message or tell a story. We all have a story to tell, right? Lyrics can be an important message or not a message at all. Love or hate, life and death, happy or sad, boring or exciting… we can write about anything and everything.
That’s what makes writing lyrics so great. Lyricists are you and me. It’s plain to see, to me, and it will set you free (ok sorry – I rhyme every day).
It’s such a great, expressive, outlet when you write lyrics with passion, exuberance, and belief.
It’s so awesome! Who are lyricists? We are ALL lyricists! I’ll leave you with some lyrics written by Kim Hopper, made famous by country music star Kenny Rogers.
Love Lifted Me
Words by Kim Hopper – recorded by Kenny Rogers
I'll write myself a simple song
Get the whole world to sing along
I'll call it a love song for you
And who knows
I'm liable to take a song from the Bible
And then when I'm through I'll just sing
Love lifted me
Love lifted me
When nothing else would do
You know love lifted me
Everybody is looking for a way
To say something nobody's saying
But that's hard to do
They're searching their mind
Trying to find one of a kind way
That they could find something new
So I'll just sing
Love lifted me
Love lifted me
When nothing else would do
You know love lifted me
Love lifted me
Love lifted me
When nothing else would do
You know love lifted me
Love lifted me
Love lifted me
When nothing else would do
You know love lifted me
When nothing else would do
You know love lifted me
