The Song's Story

This song is the story of a little girl losing her mother. It's a heartbreaking tale. Some of us have been through this, some of us have yet to lose our Mom. It's an extremely tough time for anyone. We found that writing about it becomes therapeutic. There's something that happens when you write out your feelings of losing someone so special. When you put music to those words, it becomes something more. The words are now attached to emotional tones, which create real feelings for the listener. They cease to be only words, they become a feeling. This woman is a great poet, we've worked together on many of her writings with excellent results. But the beauty of this service is that you don't have to be a great poet. If you need help with your words to make them in to something special, we can help. This song stood out as something special we feel a lot of people can relate to.

Testimonial

It's beautiful. It brought tears to my eyes and that didn’t happen when I wrote it. So thanks to the singer and staff.

Lyrics

I asked Momma, please let me stay home
I don’t want you to be all alone
I touched her hand and asked how she felt
Mom I see you don’t look very well
Momma I know that I can help...
I know I can help

She shook her head and said I must go
You need to learn in order to grow
I don’t want you to end up like me
Not even able to pay for groceries
Oh momma I’ll do as you say
I’ll stop and take a minute to pray
Please momma get better today...
Get better today

Momma please can’t you stay
Here with me for another day
So I can prove what you say
You have taken me the right way

She gave a weak smile and winced in pain
Looked outdoors and said hope it won’t rain
I was late and started to rush
I can’t miss another school bus
I’ll keep my promise and study hard
Get high marks on my report card
You’ll see that I can go far...
I can go far

Momma please can’t you stay
Here with me for another day
So I can prove what you say
You have taken me the right way

That day in school I aced all my tests
I knew I had done my very best
I Knew my momma would be so proud
And loved it when she said it aloud
But as the bus drove up my street
My neighbor quickly ran up to me
She didn’t want to tell me...
Please don’t tell me

Your mom is gone I’m so sorry
Who can we call, please don’t worry
Your momma meant everything to you
And we’ll be here to help pull you through...
We’ll pull you through

Life went on as well as it could
People say I turned out real good
I think momma always knew I would
Momma did you have to go
You told me to learn a lot and grow
It’s the course I followed
Because I loved you so...
I loved you so

Momma please can’t you stay
Here with me for another day
So I can prove what you say
You have taken me the right way
